The VentureSpur Accelerator Program

VentureSpur originated in Oklahoma City, with a mission to,

“Develop the entrepreneurial and investor community in the central US region and to make the nation aware of the many promising startup ventures being founded and grown in our region”.

After acclerating 4 startups in their debut program last year (2012), VentureSpur expanded their operations to Dallas, TX; hosting offices at The DEC and attracting some of the area’s best entrepreneurial talent as mentors. VentureSpur’s mentor roster currently includes notable startup success stories like Sean Charnock of Softlayer, Brad Hunstable of Ustream, Chris Fagan of KeyRing and The DEC’s own Entrepreneur-In-Residence, Michael Sitarzewski of Epic Playground.

Modeled after successful accelerator programs such as Y Combinator, Techstars and Dallas’ own Tech Wildcatters, VentureSpur provides seed funding, training in critical entrepreneurial skills, assigned mentors and champions for each startup as well as a variety of important professional services like accounting, web hosting, seo, incorporation, investment documentation and other startup costs. VentureSpur develops the companies in their program through a rigorous 12 week process in preparation for 2 Pitch Day events (in OKC and Dallas) where participants present before an audience of potential investors.
